Frightened

Frightened

Frightened is a condition that grips a creature with overwhelming fear of a specific source (a creature, object, or effect named by whatever imposed it).

While Frightened, a creature suffers the following effects:

  • Ability Checks and Attacks Affected. The creature has Disadvantage on ability checks and attack rolls while the source of its fear is within line of sight.
  • Can't Approach. The creature can't willingly move closer to the source of its fear.

The condition lasts until the duration set by its source ends or the effect is otherwise removed. The Disadvantage applies only while the source of fear is within line of sight; breaking line of sight suspends the penalty on those rolls, though the creature is still Frightened and still can't move closer to the source.
